Terms of Service
Last updated 19 October 2026.
These terms apply to everyone who uses Local Kindness: customers who place orders, and the local businesses and local people who list on it ("providers"). By using Local Kindness you agree to these terms.
What Local Kindness is
Local Kindness connects people who want something done in a suburb with the local businesses and local people who can do it. A customer can combine offers from different providers (for example flowers, a cake and a local delivery) and pay once.
Providers are independent. Each provider supplies their own goods or service and is responsible for it. Local Kindness arranges the order and the payment; it does not make, sell or deliver the goods itself.
Joining and listing are free
- There is no charge to join or list your offers, and no subscription. No card is needed to list.
- You choose what you offer and set your own prices. Local Kindness takes no commission.
- When you make a sale, you receive your price, less only your share of the card fee Stripe charged on the order, and less any cancellation charge described under "How providers are paid".
- You can change your offers or prices, pause your listing or remove it at any time.
You must give accurate details. A business gives its ABN. You are responsible for what you list being lawful and safe, including any licence, registration, food-safety requirement or insurance your business or service needs. Local Kindness may hide a listing that breaches these terms.
Orders and prices
The customer sees every price before paying: each provider's price, the delivery, and one Local Kindness order fee of $3 (UK £2) per order or booking, including any GST. If it ever changes, we'll give fair notice first, and never for an order already paid. Adding to an order already paid for has no second fee. Nothing is added for paying by card. The customer pays once, through Stripe.
Deliveries and collections are booked at least 24 hours ahead, with your choice of a 30-minute time slot between 8am and 8pm.
Your order
Your order is confirmed when you pay.
If anything in it can't be provided, you're refunded in full, including the order fee. If you cancel an order after a provider has accepted it, the order fee isn't refunded. We act with integrity when issues arise.
Local requests
Anyone can post a request for everyday local help, free. The page shows only what is needed, when and the suburb, never a name, email, phone number or address. Local people listed on Local Kindness can offer a price and a time. If you accept an offer, it becomes an order like any other: you pay their price plus the one Local Kindness order fee, and the same refund rules apply. Your address is shared with the helper only once you have paid.
Requests are for everyday help such as gardening, bins, cleaning, fence painting at ground level, furniture assembly, help moving a few things and errands. They are not for rides or carrying passengers, electrical, plumbing, gas or building work, anything on a ladder or roof, childcare, personal care or pets.
Local people work for themselves. Local Kindness passes on requests and takes payment; it does not employ helpers or check their skills, licences or insurance, so please ask whether they are insured for the job. We may hold, hide or remove any request or offer, and you can report a concern on any request.
How providers are paid
To be paid, a provider connects a bank account through Stripe, our payment provider. After delivery or collection, each provider is paid their price for that order, less only their share of the card fee Stripe charged on the order (shared by price). There is no commission. Providers are responsible for their own tax, including GST where it applies.
Founding providers, who joined before 10 October 2026 when listing promised the full price, are paid their full price and Local Kindness pays their card fee. Sales made from 10 to 15 October 2026 were paid under the terms then: the price less 5%, card fees included.
If a provider cancels a paid order using 'Can't do it', the customer is refunded in full, and the provider pays the card-processing fee for that order (Stripe keeps it on a refund), deducted from its next payment.
A provider is not an employee, agent or partner of Local Kindness, and nothing in these terms makes them one.
Customers
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including consumer guarantees that can't be excluded. If something is wrong with an order, write to us at the address below.
Accounts
Keep your login details secure and your information up to date. You are responsible for activity on your account.
Your content
Your logo, photos and descriptions stay yours. By adding them to your listing you let Local Kindness show them on the site for as long as they are listed. Local Kindness owns the platform itself: its software, design and the Local Kindness name.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Local Kindness for anything unlawful, or in a way that breaches another person's rights;
- misrepresent who you are or your business;
- interfere with the site's security or normal operation;
- use other people's details from an order for anything other than that order.
Suburb licences (ended)
Before 4 October 2026 Local Kindness sold suburb licences to Territory Partners. Suburb licences are no longer sold. The terms that applied to a licence still apply to anything that happened while it ran.
Disclaimers and liability
The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Local Kindness excludes all warranties not expressly stated in these terms, and limits its liability for any claim relating to the platform to the amount you paid Local Kindness in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Local Kindness grows. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after an update means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia.
