Questions
What does it cost a business?
Nothing to join or list. No subscriptions.
No commission. When you make a sale, you're paid your price, less only the card fee on it.
Customers pay one £2 Local Kindness fee per order. We're only paid when you are.
We understand if that makes you a little cynical. There usually is a catch.
There isn't one here.
Local Kindness is deliberately built differently: a decent business, based on simple economics and treating people fairly.
Put the cynicism aside for a moment and have a look at the opportunity.
How am I paid?
You set your own price. After the order is delivered or collected, you're paid that price, less only the card fee on your sale. No commission. If you cancel an order a customer has paid for, that order's card fee is taken from your next payment.
Ordering in the UK opens soon. You can list now, so you're ready when it does.
Can I use Local Kindness as my online ordering system?
Yes.
If you're a sole trader or local business, Local Kindness can simply be your online ordering system.
List what you offer, set your price, and customers can order and pay online.
Simple. Pre-paid. Free to join, and no commission.
Do I have to deliver?
No. You may simply use Local Kindness for online orders and have customers collect directly from you.
If you want to offer delivery, you can deliver yourself or have a local person deliver for you.
And where it makes sense, orders from several nearby businesses can be brought together on the same local delivery run — sharing the cost while giving customers an extra service.
No dashing around town. Orders are planned ahead.
It's Local Kindness. Take your time. Arrive with a smile.
Who can order, and when?
Anyone, anywhere, can order for someone in that area.
Orders are placed at least 24 hours ahead, so everything can be planned, not rushed.
Who's behind Local Kindness?
Local Kindness was founded by Kevin Wear in Perth, Western Australia.
Kevin has been building and running online businesses since 1998, including businesses that have processed hundreds of millions of dollars in transactions.
Local Kindness is different by design.
It's not a large corporation. It's run by a small team (me), using AI and modern technology to run more than 28,000 local websites across Australia and the UK.
No expensive corporate structure. No shareholders demanding returns. No unnecessary overheads.
Just sensible economics, modern technology and a commitment to keeping business local.
Local Kindness was created around one simple idea: make it easier for people to buy locally and do something kind for someone, wherever they live.
